Lotus water, Nelumbo nucifera, has been credited with a lot of beneficial properties both physical and spiritual. The water is prepared by hydro distillation of Lotus flowers. The water is byproduct of the same. It has some water soluble particles of Lotus oil.
Nelumbo nucifera (Sacred Lotus Petals) have become etched in folklore because of  a fabulous people who supposedly occupied the north coast of Africa and lived on the lotus, which brought forgetfulness and happy indolence.
The Ancient Romans and Greeks used Lotus hydrolate to treat ailments such as asthma, rheumatism and internal problems. Its purported healing powers have extended to epilepsy, jaundice, kidney and bladder complaints and even the plague. It has also been used as an aphrodisiac and to guard against witchcraft.
